Bateau Bay, What an Opening to Remember!

Bateau Bay, what an opening! A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of our brand-new Guzman y Gomez restaurant.  

The first guest through the restaurant was so excited for opening day that he was waiting at 6:45am, scoring some free merch and coming back later in the day with his school friends already rocking the GYG hat and socks from earlier in the day.  

A massive shout-out to our two GYG superfans who arrived decked out in GYG merch, making Bateau Bay their 12th grand opening visit 🙌 

Leading opening day were franchisees Matt and Seb, multi-site franchisees and proud locals of the Central Coast. The pair are also the owners and operators of GYG Tuggerah, GYG Lake Haven and now opening Bateau Bay.  

“Opening GYG Bateau Bay is a proud moment for us,” said Matt and Seb. “Across our restaurants we now employ over 250 local crew members and watching young Coast locals grow from crew into shift leaders and beyond has been one of the most rewarding parts of our journey.” 

The support from the GYG network on opening day was incredible. GYG Fountain Plaza sent crew over to lend a hand, and a number of fellow franchisees showed up to make sure the day ran smoothly — including Danny, who owns GYG Marrickville, UNSW and Maroubra. 

But perhaps the best story of the day? Jaymes from GYG Minto and Matt first crossed paths working together in the GYG marketing team. Today, they’re both franchisees. That’s the GYG career journey right there from marketing to owning and operating your own restaurant! 

Guest feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many impressed by how smoothly everything ran and how short the wait times were. During the biggest peaks, most guests received their food within 5 minutes of ordering.  

A huge shout-out to our amazing Bateau Bay team, your dedication, teamwork, and outstanding service made the opening day unforgettable! Your positivity, hard work, and expertise ensured every guest had a fantastic experience. 🙌 

Whether you came for a quick bite, a feed with mates, or couldn’t resist the $5 opening day special, we loved having you as part of the GYG Bateau Bay launch.
