Carlingford, opening day was huge! A massive thank you to everyone who showed up and made the opening of Guzman y Gomez Carlingford one to remember. From the live mariachi band and exclusive merch giveaways to the endless Burritos and Bowls, the GYG energy was off the charts all day long!
Carlingford locals are so excited to have their very own GYG in the neighbourhood. Conveniently located in the outdoor dining area of the Carlingford Court shopping centre, the restaurant was busy from brekkie right through to dinner. Families, students and locals were excited to finally have GYG right in their neighbourhood.
Behind GYG Carlingford is franchisee Rishad Contractor, who has now opened his second GYG restaurant after taking over GYG Westmead. Rishad began his GYG journey in 2023 as a Culinary and Operations Coach, supporting teams across multiple restaurants throughout the CBD and North Shore, building experience before stepping into franchise ownership.
“From my very first day at GYG, I knew this place was different. The people, the passion for the food, and the pride in the brand were on another level. It has been a goal of mine to be a GYG Franchisee. I took over GYG Westmead and am now incredibly excited to be opening GYG Carlingford. I’ve been supported by the GYG team from day one, and I’m incredibly grateful for their continued guidance in this new journey,” said Rishad.
Joining Rishad is Claudia, Restaurant Manager at GYG Carlingford. The pair have worked together for the past three years and bring a wealth of experience to the new restaurant, leading a passionate team ready to deliver great food and great service to the local community.
Many locals who already knew and loved GYG were thrilled to have a restaurant so close to home and opening day proved just how excited the community was to support their newest GYG.
