Clayton, that’s how you do an opening! We can’t thank you enough for showing up and making the opening of our brand new Guzman y Gomez Clayton restaurant one to remember. From the early birds grabbing their Brekkie Burritos and free Coffees, to everyone who rolled through for $5 Burritos and Bowls (and some epic merch!). It was an incredible day of food and fun! 🌯💥
Behind GYG Clayton is Restaurant Manager India, who first joined GYG as a crew member while studying at Monash University, just minutes away from the new GYG Clayton restaurant. She worked her way up to shift leader at GYG Monash and has now proudly stepped into the role of Restaurant Manager at GYG Clayton. Leading a brand-new team in the neighbourhood where her GYG journey began.
In true GYG spirit, the opening of Clayton has created 75 local jobs, with the team still recruiting for around 20 more crew roles. We’re always on the lookout for energetic locals who bring passion and positivity.
Before 7am, a line had already formed and it was amazing to see a few regulars, who aim to be first in line at all our Melbourne new restaurant openings!
With the temperature hitting 34 degrees, it was a perfect summer’s day for an opening! Guests enjoyed $5 Burritos and Bowls, soft serve cones and plenty of ice-cold drinks. The heat didn’t stop the crowds and the atmosphere stayed strong from early morning to late into the night.
It was great to see many local businesses supporting our new GYG store! Our Clayton crew spent the morning delivering free coffees to nearby businesses, such as hospitals and local shops. It was amazing to see the same staff support later in the day and enjoy a $5 burrito or bowl.
Plenty of families and children particularly loved our famous mariachi band, as well as GYG merch, including GYG sports balls.
A massive thank you to our incredible GYG Clayton crew and every guest who came through to celebrate with us. You made the day unforgettable!
