Eltham, what a day! Opening day for our new GYG Eltham restaurant was nothing short of incredible, and we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came down to celebrate. From $5 Burritos and Bowls to free coffee and lots of exclusive GYG merch, the good vibes rolled non-stop from early morning through to dinner!
The energy kicked off bright and early with the Mayor of Eltham, John Dumaresq, arriving at 7am to officially cut the yellow ribbon and help launch the opening of GYG Eltham. It was an exciting way to open the doors and of course, the mayor enjoyed a delicious and clean GYG brekkie burrito!
Behind GYG Eltham is Andre and Konrad Reich, a local father and son team who have a passion for great food, great people and making a real difference in the community. Opening a GYG has been a long-time dream for the pair, and they’ve been waiting years for this to happen!
“We’re so excited to open GYG Eltham and serve up fresh, clean, Mexican-inspired food to our local community. We’ve been planning this for years and with the perfect location right on Main Road, we know it will be a hit with locals.”
“As a father-son team, we know the power of family and the importance of healthy, clean food — we can’t wait to share GYG’s fresh menu with the local community.” Said Andre Reich.
Family and friends packed the restaurant to support Andre and Konrad on opening day, and seeing the community get behind them made opening day even more special.
Thanks to the restaurant’s prime location right next to the train station, guests were hopping off public transport and walking straight into GYG for lunch and dinner. The after-school rush was huge, with local students and young people flooding in to take advantage of the $5 Burritos and Bowls.
In true GYG spirit, the opening of Eltham has created 50 new local jobs, with the team already growing fast. Andre and Konrad are passionate about building a fun, supportive crew who live and breathe GYG’s ‘Got Your Back’ value.
“As part of our opening, we’ve welcomed a number of local crew — for some, this will be their very first job. We’re proud to show them what GYG is all about while delivering incredible food and an outstanding guest experience. We’re still hiring and can’t wait to get involved with the community, fuelling local sports clubs with delicious GYG meals and epic merch,” added Konrad Reich.
