Glass House Mountains, opening day was next level! We’ve been so excited to officially join the neighbourhood. A massive thank you to everyone who showed up and made the opening of our brand-new Guzman y Gomez Glass House Mountains restaurant one to remember.
The first guest through the door was Trevor, who is a familiar face at GYG openings! Trevor was also the first customer at the opening of GYG Morayfield and GYG Caboolture last year, making this his third time being the first guest at a GYG restaurant opening!
GYG Glass House Mountains is located on the Bruce Highway at the gateway to the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The restaurant proved to be the perfect pit stop for travellers heading towards Noosa, Caloundra and the surrounding beaches.
Behind GYG Glass House Mountains are husband and wife duo Nestor and Lala Unigarro. Nestor is a long time GYG team member turned franchisee, bringing more than seven years of hands-on experience to the business into this exciting new chapter.
“Opening GYG Glasshouse Mountains is something I’m incredibly proud of. I’ve grown with GYG over the past seven years and to be part of launching a restaurant in such a special location means a lot. This store is about community, opportunity and delivering great food every single day,” said Nestor.
The local support was strong, with plenty of familiar faces stopping by to congratulate the pair. Local Councillor Jenny Broderick dropped in to meet the team, and the local priest from Nestor and Lala’s church also visited to bless the restaurant. Such a special moment for everyone involved!
It was truly a family affair, with Nestor and Lala’s 16-year-old son Seth working as part of the crew, while their two young daughters came through to visit during the day. Seeing the whole family involved made the opening even more meaningful.
In true GYG spirit, the opening of GYG Glass House Mountains has created around 65 new local jobs, with the team already growing and recruitment still underway across kitchen, crew and support roles.
Guests were treated to plenty of opening day fun, with GYG skateboards given away for big order milestones and free GYG merch for kids and some of our biggest fans.
It was great to see local sports teams and athletes come through after training, including players from Beerwah Glasshouse United Football Club, the Glasshouse Cricket Club women’s team and their families, a true reflection of the tight-knit regional community.
A massive thank you to our amazing Glass House Mountains crew and a huge shoutout to the Queensland franchisees who came out to support Nestor and Lala. You made opening day unforgettable and we couldn’t have done it without you!
